Are you ready to find the dress of your dreams? Head to Sydney’s North and Western Suburbs for some of the best wedding dress shopping the city has to offer. Not only will you get a chance to try on a myriad of styles, you might just find some dresses for your maids as well. What better excuse to take them shopping with you?
The best place to start is Norton Street in Leichhardt. Not only is it a mecca for food and coffee lovers, it’s also simply brimming with opportunities for wedding dress shopping. Grab a coffee (and one of the fluffiest, most delicious muffins you’ve ever tasted) at Ragamuffin on Norton Street to get you going, then start at Maria Chiodo’s store a few blocks away. Not only does Maria have her own couture label and jewellery line, but she also has a couple of ready-to-wear labels too, all of which are made in Australia, so you know you’re getting the very best.
Then head over to Glamour Bridal on Parramatta Road. They offer a gorgeous selection of stylish bridal gowns from both local and international designers, plus they also stock bridesmaids dresses and accessories. Next stop: Sherry Bridal Couture on Victoria Road, Rozelle. The team at Sherry Bridal hand make all their gowns in their boutique in Rozelle. You’ll get a chance to try on some of their divine creations, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for, you could have a gown made especially for you.
From here, it’s time to head south to Earlwood, home to Bizzaro Bridal Couture. Bizzaro has been open in Sydney since 1991, and designers Dimmy and Mary have been thrilling Sydney brides with their incredible gowns and friendly service since then. You can browse some of their past designs, but if you’re keen to have a couture consultation, it’s best to make an appointment in advance.
Further south, in Miranda, you’ll find Briony Leigh Bridal. With a soft, feminine, romantic aesthetic, they stock a beautiful collection of gowns from designers like Mori Lee, Brides Desire by Wendy Sullivan, Fiorenza and Paco. Their new Mori Lee bridesmaid range is positively exquisite, so your maids will get a chance to have a little fun trying things on too!
From Miranda, you’ll head on a bit of a road trip west, so pack some snacks and crank up the radio. Within about forty minutes you’ll hit Hollylea Road in Leumeah, home to Beautiful Brides, who cater for brides, bridesmaids, flowergirls and mother of the bride and groom. Their collections include Alfred Angelo, Bonny Bridal, Eden Bridal, Bella Donna by Wendy Makin, Miss Kelly and Just For You. Their friendly staff will help you find not only your dream dress, but the perfect selection of bridesmaids dresses to complement it as well.
Heading back north again, you’ll come upon Brides in Love in Wetherill Park. Their showroom houses more than 300 gowns and is one of the largest in New South Wales. They’ve recently added gowns by Sophia Tolli to their already brimming selection, and they’ve got a great range of bridesmaids gowns by Paco, Mr K, J’Adore and Tinaholy. Their staff are super friendly and enjoy pampering and spoiling every bride that walks through their doors.
You’re probably a bit tired by now, so lunch is definitely on the menu. Since you’ll be heading to Blacktown next anyway, why not go there for lunch? Blacktown has some of Sydney’s best Asian cuisine, Saigon Spice on Flushcombe Road is a particular favourite for their exotic Vietnamese menu and super fresh ingredients. Top it off with a visit to Jas My Waffles for dessert and a great coffee and you’re set for the next part of your journey.
Sweethearts Bridal is located in the heart of Blacktown, and you simply couldn’t ask for friendly, more helpful staff. They’ve been helping brides for over 26 years! The beautiful boutique offers a large selection of bridal and bridesmaids gowns from brilliant local and international designers like Maggie Sottero, Sottero and Midgley, Stella York, Martina Liana, Wendy Makin, Jasmine and Sorella Vita. From here you’ll head to your second-last stop, Kylie J Bridal in Macquarie Street Parramatta. This expansive store offers an exclusive range of Christina Rossi bridal gowns, catering for sizes 2-30. The store has a relaxed, friendly vibe, and their consultants are happy to let you browse to your heart’s content, while still being available to offer expert advice when you need them.
Finally, we head to Sydney’s Hills District, to Brides of Beecroft. This sumptuous salon is located in a quiet, leafy street in beautiful suburban Beecroft. Owner Wendy McGregor is meticulous in her selection of labels and loves to pamper her brides. This one-stop-shop has been created for the busy bride, meaning you’ll find everything you need in one place. The boutique carries a large range of designer gowns by Pronovias, Demetrios, Rosa Clara, Mori Lee by Madeline Gardiner, Angelina Saccendra, Elizabeth De Varga and is the exclusive stockist of Augusta Jones from England.
Just around the corner you’ll find the perfect place to relax, be pampered and think through everything you’ve seen on your big day of dress shopping: The Art of Hair in Wongala Crescent. Indulge in a wash, head massage and blow-dry or freshen up your colour and get a trim. That way you can head home feeling renewed, refreshed and relaxed.
